LA Select

Youth teams

8u to 14u boys and girls, 2nd through 8th grade, year-round.

What the program includes

Our youth teams are built for advanced players who want to grow by competing against the best.

Winning matters, but the focus is each athlete’s development: fundamental skills, mental toughness, strength and conditioning, and leadership. Along the way players learn teamwork, dedication and discipline, and get ready for high school basketball.

Tournaments every month
Iron sharpens iron: our teams compete against the best in 1-2 tournaments per month.
Practice, film and conditioning
Teams practice 2-3 times per week and often add film review and conditioning sessions.
Travel
Most teams travel 2-4 times per season to out-of-town tournaments. Past trips include Las Vegas, San Francisco, Arizona, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Palm Springs.
Experienced coaches
Our staff includes experienced high school coaches and trainers who teach the game the right way, and most of our coaches are USA Basketball Gold Licensed(opens in new tab).
Student-athletes
Student comes first. Athletes must meet our academic standards to stay on the roster.
Blue, White and Red teams
Divisions run from 8u (2nd grade) to 14u (8th grade), with up to three teams per division: Blue, White and Red.
Organized scheduling
Planned, up-to-date team calendars keep the season well coordinated, so athletes and parents can focus on what matters.
Academy USA
We host most of our practices at Academy USA in Glendale, with three NCAA regulation courts and a fully equipped fitness center: 1219 Los Angeles St, Glendale, CA 91204(opens in new tab).
Special events
Teams sometimes compete at venues like Crypto.com Arena, SoFi Stadium and USC. There is also an annual free media day for team photos and portraits, an end-of-season banquet and our long-standing parent games, where players take on their parents.
